How to Use 'trece'
Trece is one of the six numbers from 11 to 15 that are single, irregular words: once, doce, trece, catorce, quince. From 16 onwards the pattern changes to dieci- + unit (dieciséis). In Spain the c is pronounced like th (TREH-theh).
Regional note: The traditional saying ‘En martes, ni te cases ni te embarques’ (On a Tuesday, don’t get married or set sail) explains why Tuesday, not Friday, is the unlucky day in the Spanish-speaking world.
